And we’re back this week with more #MyUberHero winners! Remember to keep those stories coming – if you’re a rider please submit your story here, and if you’re a partner you can tell us your story here.

Congratulations Joheng for being the first winner this week – it sounds like you really saved Matthias’ date night! 😉

“Standing in the rain with your girlfriend is definitely not a situation anyone would want to be in. After watching a movie at a nearby cinema, we were walking back home and it suddenly started raining. Taking shelter at a nearby McDonald’s, I hailed an Uber and Joheng came to pick us up. Seeing that we were half-soaked from the rain, Joheng offered us 2 towels to dry ourselves up and he offered to charge my phone after overhearing that my phone had just 3% of battery left. After reaching our destination, he opened the car door for us and my girlfriend was so amazed that he would go to such lengths to ensure that we had an excellent ride. I have to thank Joheng for saving my date from a very wet ending. You are the champ bro! You are THE true hero in disguise. #MyUberHero”

For our next winner, we would actually like to highlight a story submitted by a partner. He had the most touching experience on Valentine’s Day – thank you Jonathan for sharing this with us!

“They were my last passengers on a rainy Sunday evening on Valentines Day. An elderly couple. I did fetch quite a few couples on that day (duh, Valentines Day), but this one was the most interesting. They were a husband and wife musical duo who busk at the LRT station for money. Also, the husband was blind.

This elderly couple travels every other day from their home located on the second floor of an old row of shophouse in Kuchai Lama to Avenue K just to busk for 2 hours. No matter if it’s raining or baking hot, they lug their huge portable speaker, audio equipments, a mic stand, 3 foldable chairs and an acoustic guitar up and down 4 flights of stairs, an Uber ride and a lengthy walk to perform for an ever changing crowd that probably considers them just background noise. I am not even sure if they get that much out of it financially, but they enjoy what they are doing and that’s all that really matters. The least I could do was to help them carry all of their equipment up to their house and hope all drivers that get their request would do the same.

I did not ask much about their lives when we chatted, but they really have been together for the longest time and the love, support and faith that they have for each other is the most beautiful Valentine’s story.”
