Required Vehicle Documents to Drive with Uber in Malaysia

Driving with Uber is easy. All you need to do is sign up, get activated and start driving! In order to get activated, you will need to submit the following documents: Malaysian Identity Card, Driver’s License, Vehicle Insurance Cover Note.

Malaysian Identity Card

Take a clear photo of your Identity Card with all the details clearly seen:

Name in the Identity Card must match the driver’s name in the Insurance Cover Note

Driver’s License

Please take a photo of the front of your valid professional driver’s license:

Make sure the photo is not blurry and all the details are clearly seen
If your license’s expiry date is shown on the back of the document or on a separate document, take a photo of it as well, then merge them together before uploading the photo

Insurance Cover Note

Types of insurance that are accepted
- Certificate of insurance or cover note
- Schedule
- Confirmation of purchase of insurance
- Endorsement attached with schedule, cover note, or confirmation of purchase of insurance
- Endorsement for the top-up insurance for e-hailing
Details that must be clearly displayed on the document
- Name of insurance company
- Type of insurance (e.g. Private motor car, commercial, etc.)
- Period of insurance
- Vehicle details (make, model, year of manufacture, license plate)
- Name of policy holder or insured
- Named drivers (this could be the same or different from the policy holder) or the ‘All Drivers’ clause
- Type of cover (comprehensive and third party for uberFLASH and uberTAXI driver-partners, comprehensive for other Uber partners)
Requirements for fleet accounts
- All fleet partners / owners should be Malaysians
- All fleet partners / owners should have the required documents completed for the account to be in effect (e.g. IC, license, vehicle insurance)
- We accept both commercial and comprehensive insurance coverage for fleet accounts

Requirements for those driving for a company
The partner must provide an authorisation letter from their company containing:
- Company stamp
- Driver-partner’s name
- Vehicle information
- Must not be handwritten (fully printed documents)
