On Wednesday, 23rd August, the most powerful typhoon in many years battered Macau, causing significant damage and a tragic loss of life.

With transport and food and water distribution networks severely disrupted, the Uber Macau team asked driver partners on the ground whether they would be willing to help out their fellow citizens. Many of them said yes. For that reason, we have decided to activate the app from now to 9pm this Sunday, 27th August, to connect people impacted by Typhoon Hato with drivers prepared to give them a ride. There will be no charge for people using the service.

Uber Macau General Manager Trasy Lou Walsh said: “We hope in this difficult time we can provide a helping hand to the people of Macau as they recover from Typhoon Hato. We are very grateful for the support of our driver partners who are the ones on the ground making this effort happen.”
