At Uber we have decided to pay tribute to driver-partners and give Kenyans a look into their lives because we believe they are not just drivers, but everyday heroes. The late Tom Mboya may have said it best, “I have news for you, there is no Superman – it’s up to us.”.

Uber driver-partners certainly drive with that thought in mind. In the video above, we have compiled a few heart-warming stories as told by our driver-partners in Nairobi.

You will hear from Allan who is now able to support his family better and Dickson who is a hero to his son. Allan explains how excited both he and his family are that he is operating on the Uber platform, because he is able to take care of his family better than before. He describes Uber as ‘magic’, and because he is his own boss it is the best work he’s come across. Dickson was seen as a hero in his own family recently, through using the Uber app he is earning more than before and was able to purchase a bicycle for his son.

Martin feels privileged to have been able to get an expectant mother to hospital in the nick of time, adding that Uber is the best thing to have come to Kenya. Martin also uses Uber himself, to get around Nairobi, when not operating on the platform.

As a female driver, the lovely Esther is touched by the excitement of her customers. She loves being a symbol of change because she is doing something that is not usually considered a role for a woman.

These are just some of the stories that inspire us every day and by sharing them we’re hoping they can inspire you!
