Moving Amman
Written byOur goal has always been to provide an accessible and affordable choice in transport through our innovative technology.
Whether it’s for the occasional weekend trip or as part of your frequent commute, Uber has become the number one choice for riders across Amman in the 18 months we have been here. Equally as important is the greater economic opportunity Uber has provided drivers. Drivers choose to drive with Uber for the flexibility and control they have. They choose when they drive, for how long, and can dictate their own schedule, day-to-day, week-to-week.
We are very proud of the impact we have made in Amman; because we have made it safer and easier for people to move around their city, doing tens of thousands of trips monthly, and because we are creating new economic opportunities for hundreds of drivers across the country. Most recently, you may have heard about the free rides we offered voters during the elections – it’s initiatives like these that we want to continue offering as we become a part of the urban landscape.
Our vision for the Kingdom is to work with the government on further developing our service so that more people can benefit from the convenience of our technology at various price points, as well as make our platform a more accessible mean of income for more drivers.
In short, we believe that progressive transport regulations, using our technology, leads to a safer, more affordable choice in transport for riders and greater economic opportunity for drivers.
It’s why we have been engaging multiple stakeholders in the country in shaping progressive transport regulations that put the rider and drivers’ interests firsts.
Why this post? Because despite any of the noise you may have heard, we are very much committed to the change we are bringing to Amman’s transport network and look forward to seeing some positive reform in this field. Until then, we ask for your continued support in doing what we do best and changing the way people are moving around their city.
