The spread of COVID-19 is being felt right across the world and it’s posing huge challenges for medical and crisis response teams. Almost everywhere they’re working long hours and risking their lives to keep their communities safe. To salute their sacrifices, we recently launched our UberMedic service which provides our frontline healthcare workers safe, reliable and efficient transportation.

Today, we’re proud to announce our partnership with the National Health Authority (NHA) to offer free UberMedic  rides to healthcare workers in select locations for the next month. Our partnership will initially facilitate the provision of 150 cars free of cost to support medical facilities in New Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj and Patna.

Our responsibility doesn’t end at merely providing this service. Keeping the safety of riders and drivers in mind, we are working with drivers to ensure all UberMedic cars supplied to NHA will be equipped with roof-to-floor plastic sheeting enclosing the driver’s seat, thereby acting as a protective barrier between the rider and driver.

In line with government guidelines, we will train all UberMedic drivers to ensure they follow clearly defined safety protocols. Each UberMedic car will also be disinfected after every ride to ensure the highest possible safety and hygiene standards. Additionally, we are working with partner hospitals to provide drivers with personal protective equipment including hand sanitisers, gloves, disinfectant sprays and face masks.

We’re proud of our frontline workers and deeply value their service to the nation. We will continue to support them and the government in the coming days and weeks.
