Uber offers entrepreneurial opportunities to tribal women
Written byTaking our vision to empower the women of India further, we have partnered with the Government of Maharashtra to help train tribal women to drive and earn a livelihood on our platform.
We will serve as a technical and skill development partner with the Tribal Research & Training Institute (TRTI) under the Government of Maharashtra. Nagpur is the first city to go live with this project.
As part of the collaboration, the Tribal Development Department, through the TRTI, will provide a 100% subsidy for auto rickshaws and 80% subsidy for compact cars. These vehicles will be handed over to the tribal women driver partners.
We are confident this will create women micro entrepreneurs who have the independence to work at their own convenience and we’re enthused at the prospect of these women inspiring and empowering communities.
