Decades back, Jamshedpur transformed the way India moved with Jamshedji Tata’s Tata Motors Ltd. (then TELCO) beginning to roll out commercial vehicles. Today, we transform the way Jamshedpur moves, with the launch of Uber’s ride operations in the automobile city.

Each new city being added to our map in the subcontinent is a matter of immense pride, with Jamshedpur being the 58th stop for us. Within Jharkhand, Jamshedpur follows footsteps of capital Ranchi, to be the second city in the state where riders can now book UberGo services.

To provide affordable and reliable transportation options to riders has been the ethos of what we do. The launch is in line with our mission to expand our footprint across 200 Indian cities, offering convenience to scores of Indians, along with livelihood opportunities to hundreds of thousands of driver partners, all over the next 12 months.

It has been a year since we launched operations in the state of Jharkhand, and can boast of having tens of thousands of Uber users every month, along with hundreds of driver partners already onboarded on our platform. We also have plans to soon start the Uber Intercity service, connecting Ranchi and Jamshedpur, the timeline for which we should announce shortly.

Getting started with Uber is easy:

  • Download the app – Get the free Uber app from the App Store or Google Play on your smartphone and open the app to create your account.
  • Request a ride – Enter your destination and choose a ride option. You’ll always see the price upfront.
  • Enjoy your ride – You’ll see your driver’s picture and vehicle details, and can track their arrival on the map.
