Uber Tech is the place for the best technology leaders in the Industry. Meet Uber-Bangalore based Vidhya, our new Global Head of Customer Care platform engineering, also known as the customer obsession engineering team.  

Vidhya joined Uber’s Bangalore tech center in August 2018 as the first employee and a leader of the Customer obsession team in Bangalore. In 18 months under Vidhya’s leadership, this team in Bangalore scaled up from 1 to 70. In her new role as a Global head for the Customer Obsession team, Vidhya will now lead teams in Uber’s San Francisco and Palo Alto tech centers along with Bangalore. This team is known for applying state-of-the-art machine learning models to develop tech that learns from trip signals and user behaviors to predict and resolve issues. Automated refunds upon trip cancellations on the app is the result of the Customer Obsession Engineering.    

Born and raised in Mumbai, Vidhya did her engineering from the University of Mumbai and later completed her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer engineering from Rutgers University, USA. Vidhya is one of the few technologists who have worked in Speech Recognition and Natural Language Understanding from the very early days of the emergence of these technologies and has been at the forefront of their commercialization.
