Uber has a simple goal: to provide access to safe, reliable and convenient transportation at the tap of a button, everywhere for everyone. We’re always trying to make your travel smarter and safer.

We have partnered with the Department of Transport in Guwahati emphasize and educate people about the need of safe roads by applying simple rules.

Safety Charters

  1. Always carry your driving license and important documents with you.
  2. Share your trip, GPS data is logged for every trip so we know where and when you’re riding and who’s behind the wheel. It also helps us ensure that drivers are taking the best route every time.
  3. Don’t drink and drive or drive under the influence of drugs.
  4. Press the SOS button to immediately connect with local authorities in the rare event of an emergency while on an Uber ride.
  5. Obey all traffic signals, lights and signs & use the indicator or hand signals when changing lanes.
  6. Adhere to permitted speed limits. Even if you are in a hurry refrain from the very tempting ‘Olop Joldi Solaok’
  7. Don’t use your cellphone while driving – that call, text or social media status can wait. If you must, move to the side of the road, halt and then attend to your phone.
  8. Make sure your are fit to drive – don’t undertake a long journey (longer than an hour) if you feel tired.
  9. Buckle up! Wear your seat belts.
  10. Stay alert, and be considerate to pedestrians especially senior citizens, handicapped, ladies and children.

We believe that technologies like Uber provide an incredible opportunity to improve road safety in new and innovative ways — before, during and after every ride.
