The refugee crisis has moved everyone and at Uber we want to do our bit to help too.

In partnership with Caritas Hungarica we will be launching UberGIVING as a part of a pan-EU initiative across over 23 European cities.

On Wednesday, September 9th, between the hours of 10 am and  5 pm, Uber will collect for free any supplies donated by the public, on behalf of the Caritas Hungarica, which provides materials and support to the refugees in Hungary.

How does it work?

  • Open the Uber app at any time during the initiative, in cities where Uber operates in Europe, and swipe the slider to ‘GIVING’.
  • Request a car – completely free of charge – to pick up your donations in Budapest within minutes.
  • Donations will be delivered to a local Caritas centre and then on to the people who need it most.

We are accepting all goods currently requested by the Caritas, which includes:

  • personal hygiene items
  • blankets
  • polifoams
  • baby hygiene items and baby food

Please make sure that everything that you want collected is grouped together in a bag – it will make it much easier for us and the teams at the collection points to get your donations to where they’re needed.

We’re all used to getting a ride at the push of a button.  Now, we want to use Uber to help refugees in desperate need.  As always, none of this would be possible without our amazing partner-drivers.

Thank you for your support!
