According to Uber Eats’ data, burgers clearly made it to one of the most favourite foods for Hongkongers. Uber Eats’ users treated themselves to over 20,000 lbs of burgers in the past 6 months, equivalent to a total of 21,732,926 calories – that is equivalent to an average intake for adult males for 8,693 days or adult females for 10,866 days. The craze for burgers shows no sign of burning out — with the biggest fan ate 74 burgers in the last 6 months. Every 2.4 days on average, our local burger fan ordered from Uber Eats’ extensive burger collection which includes both the classics and the Hong Kong style ‘out-of-the box’ burgers.

There are a few things better than breaking bread with your friends and your teammates at the office. A burger fanatic called for a total of 40 burgers (30 classic and 10 vegetarian), 60 chicken wings and 25 sets of fries to win everyone’s hearts with delectable burgers, making it the largest burgers order on Uber Eats in the last 6 months. Data also revealed the rising vegan burger trend in Hong Kong with the emerging trend of plant-based meat transforming the definition of burgers. Vegetarians now have even more opportunities to indulge in the scrumptious delight of burgers.

Our data indicates that cheeseburgers take the crown as HongKongers’ favourite burger in 2019 and are far ahead from other burgers.  A juicy and appetizing patty fried just right, covered in molten cheese, fresh tomatoes and stuffed with crispy lettuce is the perfect cheeseburger combination to tantalize taste buds.

Burger preferences revealed – a tight competition between ‘extra sauce’ and ‘no sauce’

HongKongers have high standards and are picky when ordering burgers — as data from Uber Eats revealed that there are many extra requests for a majority of burger orders. The most common requests are for “extra sauce” or “no sauce”, followed by “no pickles”, demonstrating that HongKongers prefer to customize their order according to their own tastes. Uber Eats also discovered some interesting choices, such as “fries without salt,” and a “mushroom cheeseburger without mushroom.”
