Uber will launch Hong Kong’s first child car seat ride option on 1 November 2025. ‘Uber Car Seat’  reinforces Uber’s commitment to rider safety and aligns with the Government’s new safety regulations coming into effect the same day.

Uber Car Seat: Safe Rides for Young Travelers
From the daily school run to weekend outings, the new ride option on the Uber app gives parents and guardians added peace of mind. At the tap of a button, riders can book rides equipped with child car seats or other child restraining devices, making travelling with toddlers and children easier and safer. The launch builds on Uber’s growing suite of family-focused options in Hong Kong, including Uber for Teens, which comes with parental controls, and Uber XL and XXL, designed for larger groups.

To meet the needs of every young passenger, Uber Car Seat offers two options:

  • For ages 1–7: one foldable car seat or other child restraining device
  • For ages 4–7: one booster car seat or other child restraining device

“Safety is at the heart of every Uber trip, and that includes our youngest riders. With the launch of our new child car seat ride option – Uber Car Seat, families in Hong Kong will have access to safe  travel they can trust. As a parent, I know the extra steps it takes to get children on the move. I’m glad we can now make getting around the city that much easier for families in Hong Kong.”  Estyn Chung, General Manager of Uber HK, says.

Supporting Families and Drivers: A Collaborative Approach to Safer Rides
Prior to the upcoming regulations, Uber has been taking proactive steps to support the government in enhancing road safety for Hong Kong. This includes partnering with two trusted car seat suppliers to offer car seats to Uber drivers at reduced prices, helping drivers meet safety standards affordably; and providing information to drivers about the installation of the car seats. Drivers will be eligible to participate in additional incentive schemes to boost earnings that may be used toward the expenses for child safety seats.

Uber’s Commitment: From Safety Standards to Community Service Excellence
This launch builds on Uber’s commitment to providing safe, inclusive, and accessible mobility for everyone. Every trip booked through the Uber app is supported by insurance coverage. Uber drivers are subject to periodic background checks and real-time identity verification, giving riders and drivers peace of mind. From 1 November, the new Uber Car Seat option will be available in the Uber app.
