Starting from 1 February 2024, we will launch a trial run of the NT Taxi (New Territories Taxi) ride option for Uber Taxi, aiming to offer you a more budget-friendly option when travelling in the New Territories.
When your requested pickup and drop-off locations are within the New Territories Taxi operating areas designated by the Transport Department, you should be able to see the NT Taxi option in the Uber app (as shown in the image below). The steps for requesting a NT Taxi rides are similar to other Uber Taxi ride options, and we expect the prices for the majority of NT Taxi trips will be lower than the existing Uber Taxi ride option.
💡When requesting a NT Taxi ride, please note:
- NT Taxi ride option is not available for trips departing from the airport
- NT Taxi ride option is only available for trips with a single destination and does not allow adding extra dropoff locations during the trip
- Drop-off location cannot be changed during the NT Taxi trip
- If the route suggested by the navigation system of the app is out of the New Territories Taxi operating areas, we suggest you can discuss with the taxi driver to adjust the route within the designated operation areas.
Please be assured that the NT Taxi trial run will not affect the existing Uber Taxi ride options, i.e. Taxi and Metered Taxi.
