See where you are going and how much you will earn before each trip. Before you accept any trip, you will now be able to see:
- The net amount you will earn on the trip
- The pick up location and destination of the trip
See where you’ll go and how much you’ll make. That’s not all – you will also be compensated for longer than usual pick-ups!*
What does this mean?
- When the time it takes to pick up your rider is longer than usual, Uber will collect a lower service fee in most cases.
- When the time it takes to pick up your rider is shorter than usual, Uber will collect a higher service fee in most cases.
* The service fee payable to Uber will range from 3% to 35% depending on the trip profile. The weekly average will remain at 20%
Understanding your expected earnings
The fares you’ll see won’t be based on fixed time and distance rates alone. Expected earnings can be based on several factors. Some you know well, like time and distance to destination. Some are new, like like traffic patterns, closed roads, and suggested routes for the trip
Projected earnings are based on real time and reflect what is happening around you. Here are two examples to illustrate this:
- When the time it takes to pick up your rider is longer than the average in that area, Uber’s service fee will be lower in most cases.
- When the time it takes to pick up your rider is shorter than the average in that area Uber’s service fee will be higher in most cases.
Better fares on short trips
This new approach to fare calculations will make short trips more valuable to you. You will get a slightly higher amount on some short trips and a slightly lower amount on some long trips.
Clearer and more detailed receipts
It will be easier to see if your earnings have been adjusted after the trip ends. In your trip history, you will see a mark on the trips that have been modified and you will know from the trip receipt the reason for this modification.
Adjustments to earnings occur if:
- You drove more or less than expected for the trip
- Received an extra fee for waiting
What if things change whilst on trip
- If there’s unexpected traffic and the trip gets a lot longer, the fare will increase
- If there’s a change of pickup or drop-off address in the app while you’re on your way, the fare will be updated as you go
- If the trip is shorter than expected because the Rider put in the wrong destination, your earnings on that trip will be lower than earlier shown on the offer card
Trip history
In your trip history, you’ll see a label on trips that have had earnings adjustments.
Trip receipts
In all trip receipts, you can now see the exact fare you accepted up front. If your earnings are different from the original offer, your trip receipt will let you know why.
