Meet UberX Share

UberX Share is a new ride option that allows riders who are travelling in a similar direction to share a journey, and gives drivers access to more earning opportunities.

Trip Experience with UberX Share

You’ll see a request for UberX Share in the app for your first rider, just like with UberX. You’ll see ‘Share’ at the top of the trip offer card, so you’ll  always know it’s an UberX Share trip request.                          

        5.  Uber Pro status and cancellation rate: You’ll earn Uber Pro points for every additional co-rider you pick-up on UberX Share, helping you reach higher tiers and better rewards. Your Uber Pro status will not be affected if you reject UberX Share requests or decline co-riders being added to the trip.

6. Driver Rating:

Your driver rating will not be impacted if you receive a negative rating from an UberX Share rider due to reasons outside of your control e.g. difficult pick-up experiences, bad routes, or an issue with another co-rider.
You can also cancel an UberX Share trip if multiple riders show up at the pickup point without impacting your cancellation rate(relevant for Uber Pro purposes).

Pricing on UberX Share trips

UberX Share operates to help you earn at least the same as an equivalent UberX trip. 

UberX Share offers more affordable prices to encourage more riders to take trips. Riders get a discount that’s applied on top of the UberX fare for the same pick-up/drop-off which leads to the UberX Share fare being lower than UberX for riders. The upfront price takes into account the estimated duration of the trip, traffic and distance, as well as surge pricing when demand is high. When the trip goes through a toll, the toll is added to the final payment.

Riders that don’t follow the rules

Riders cannot change the drop-off location after requesting because the app matches UberX Share riders based on pick-ups and drop-offs, so any changes  would impact other riders on the trip. If a rider insists on going to a different location, they should cancel the trip and request another UberX Share or UberX. In case of a pushback from your passenger about the addition of co-riders, we suggest that you decline/cancel additional riders. You will still be paid the equivalent of an UberX trip with a single rider. We also encourage you to reach out to support in case of such incidents, so we can prevent future occurrences of this behaviour.

Driver recommendation: Use in-app navigation

With UberX Share we recommend you use Uber’s app navigation. It will automatically update the route with each co-rider that joins the trip, and tell you exactly where to pick-up and drop-off each rider—making it easier for you to focus on the road.
