What is Uber’s EV Assistance?

EV Assistance is a financial grant introduced by Uber to support London drivers with the upfront cost of purchasing a new or used electric vehicle (EV) to drive on the Uber app. Up to £3,000 of EV Assistance is available for eligible drivers who switch before 30 September 2025. EV Assistance will no longer be available from 1 October 2025. Act now to take advantage!

Want to find out how much EV Assistance you may be eligible for? Contact our in app support team via the help section of the driver app.

How much EV Assistance can I access?

Drivers may be eligible for up to £3,000 in EV Assistance until 30th September 2025. EV Assistance will no longer be available after this date.

How do I know if I am eligible?

To be eligible to claim EV Assistance, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed at least 150 trips in the previous 8 weeks.*
  • Have not previously used a full amount of EV Assistance.
  • Previously claimed EV Assistance and then switched back to a non-EV with no claim within the last 6 months.
  • Completed fewer than 50 EV trips in an active EV on your account in the 6 months before 1st April 2025.

*Trip criteria may not apply for eligible new drivers – see Uber Marketplace section.

Using EV Assistance

When it comes to using your EV Assistance, there are two ways in which you can do this:

  1. EV ClaimBack: when you source your EV yourself; or
  2. Uber Marketplace: when you get an EV from one of our vehicle partners.

Note: To maintain access to EV Assistant and stay eligible, drivers must continue driving an EV and receive at least one EV Assistance payment every 6 months.

EV ClaimBack

  • To access EV Assistance via Claimback, you must meet the criteria below:

    • Have an EV on your Driver account; and
    • Have 150 EV trips completed in the past 8 weeks; and
    • Submit a claim before 30 September 2025.

    Important Notice: EV ClaimBack Monitoring
We monitor and may limit multiple EV Assistance payments on the same vehicle within a short time period to minimise fraudulent behaviour.

  • This depends on if you are the named keeper on the V5 (Vehicle Logbook):

    •  Not named on V5: Receive £300 per month until the EV Assistance is used up (provided you maintain 150 EV trips in the past 8 weeks ).
    •  Named on V5: The entire amount of EV Assistance is paid directly.

If you are not named on the V5, you’ll have to meet the payment criteria each month - you only need to submit the Claimback form once.

    • Applications: Submit your claim it will enter the queue for review.
    • Reviews: Our team checks whether you meet the eligibility criteria - including the amount you will receive.
    • Payments: Our team pays the EV Assistance directly into your Uber Wallet. You’ll find this under ‘miscellaneous payments’. Payments are completed by the 10th day of each month (or the next working day).
    • If you miss the Application window: Don’t worry, you’ll be reviewed in the following cycle.
    • You may be ineligible for a certain reason, we’ve explained this below
    • No EV on account: You need to an EV and start taking trips to claim
    • Not enough trips: You need 150 trips in your EV (in the last  8 weeks) from the date you submit your claim.
    • No EV Assistance to claim: Unfortunately, this means you have either; used up your EV Assistance, or you have not had EV Assistance to claim.
  • Yes! You will need to meet eligibility criteria listed above. We encourage you to find the best deal at the right price point, many drivers love their pre-owned EVs

Uber Marketplace

  • This is when EV Assistance is used on your EV upfront. The payment goes from Uber directly to the vehicle partner to lower your costs before you even start driving!

The vehicle partner will check your eligibility with Uber to confirm the funds.

  • To access your EV Assistance, you must meet the criteria below:

    • Have ordered an EV from a partner vendor before 30 September 2025; and
    • Have completed 150 trips in the previous 8 weeks*

*Trip criteria may not apply for eligible new drivers - see next question.

  • Pre-First Trip EV Assistance

    The Driver must have:

    • Not taken a trip on the Uber app (zero trips on account)
    • The Driver must claim EV Assistance for an 8 week Rental from a partner vendor.
    • Driver must have engaged with one of the channels below:
    1. Attended a GoElectric Session; or
    2. Had a 1:1 session with an EV Expert; or
    3. Participated in an Ignition session.
  • This is dependent on how you source your Electric Vehicle. See options below:

Rental: £300 per month is deducted from your rental costs until the full EV assistance fund has been used.

Rent-to-buy: The EV assistance fund is spread across the length of your agreement and applied as a discount to your weekly payments.

Cash or hire purchase: The full EV assistance fund is applied upfront as a deposit contribution at the time of purchase.

  • You can find all of our partner deals on the Uber Marketplace. We have a wide variety of makes and models and our partners get new options regularly.

  • You can use your EV Assistance to lower your costs before you even get the keys! Plus, our experienced partners have PCO-friendly offers and some packages include insurance, servicing and more to give you peace of mind. Finally, with some exceptional discounts to be had on brand new EV models you’ll be able to save big!

  • No, many of our partners have new and used EV models that are very popular with drivers. Enquire with them directly to find the right deal for you - don’t forget to say you have EV Assistance.
