If you’re visiting Paris, then Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is your likely entry point to the French capital and popular tourist destination. Also referred to as Roissy Airport, it’s one of the biggest and busiest airports in the world—and certainly the biggest in Europe. It may be intimidating to visitors who just want to take in the sights and sounds of the City of Lights, which is why you may want to let Uber in Paris do the driving for you.

People traveling light or on a tight budget may want to consider uberPOOL, which lets you split the cost of the ride with another passenger headed the same way you are. Luxury Berline and low-cost uberX cars are also available, and so is the 100% electric uberGREEN and the six-passenger VAN. You can use the Fare Estimator to get an idea of how much it’ll cost you to get into your final destination in Paris.

Here are things you need to know to get to, from, and around CDG, as well as some suggestions for people spending a few days in Paris:

Resources for Charles de Gaulle Airport

  • Uber Airport Page: Everything you need to know about taking an Uber at CDG in Paris can be found at our dedicated airport page.
  • Busy Times: While the airport is busy year-round, July to September can be particularly so. You should plan accordingly, factoring in extra time for wiggle room. Even with free terminal shuttles, you’ll still need time to get from the front door to your gate.
  • Flight Status: For live departure and arrival times, consult the CDG website.

  • Security Wait Times: Unfortunately, CDG is known for long security wait times. If you intend to check a bag, it’s recommended to get to the airport three hours before a long-haul flight and two hours ahead of an inter-European one. Passengers who just have carry-on luggage and opt for online check-in can save valuable minutes by heading straight to security with their digital boarding pass in hand.

  • Pickup/Drop-off: Using the Uber app to get to the CDG is as simple as inputting your pickup and destination locations. Then sit back and enjoy the ride right up to the departures section. As for pickup, once you’ve collected your bags and are ready to hit the road, you’ll be able to select your terminal on the Uber app when requesting your ride. It’s recommended to contact your Uber to confirm your exact location.

  • News: For the latest news and updates on CDG, you can check out their official Facebook page or follow them on Twitter.

Destinations Around Paris

Whether you’ve got a particularly long layover and some time to kill, or are heading in to town for a week, here are some must-see sights in the City of Lights.

  • Moulin Rouge: Montmartre is a storied neighborhood in Paris with deep artistic, cultural, and bohemian roots. What better way to begin your journey by visiting Moulin Rouge, the famed French cabaret and one of its biggest icons? You may want to consider booking a dinner and a show online or at the theater in advance but if you can’t grab a reservation, at least make a quick pit stop to grab a selfie with the windmill atop the theater.

  • Napoleon’s Tomb: One of Europe’s most important historical figures is, of course, Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon’s tomb—an impressive and imposing sarcophagus made of a red-colored stone called porphyry — is housed in the Dôme des Invalides, alongside other members of the ruling and military classes.

  • Le Clos Montmartre: Le Clos Montmartre is the only wine-producing vineyard in the city of Paris. Tucked away in a pocket of Montmartre (corner of Rue St-Vincent and Rue des Saules), the vineyard has roots dating back centuries, although its current grapes are much newer than that. This small grape plantation isn’t the most productive France has to offer, but its history alone is worthy of a stop on your trip.

Enjoy!
