Through conversations with drivers and riders, we’ve learned that Uber Black is not always the premium experience it’s expected to be. To improve the experience, make it more consistent, and help differentiate Uber Black from other options, we’re making changes. These changes include investing in marketing efforts to help increase trips, making product improvements, and updating eligibility criteria to raise the bar on quality.
What is changing on Black?
- From October 1, 2020, only drivers with at least 150 trips and a rating of 4.85 will qualify for Uber Black rides.
- From January 1, 2021, the new list of eligible vehicles, which you will find below, will be effective.
- Also, don’t forget that all cars must first be inspected at our support center at Thámova 18, where we will check if the vehicle is a black sedan with a leather interior.
What does Uber Black offer?

Higher earnings for drivers
Uber Black offers drivers the highest earnings for a completed ride of all our services.

Better driving experience for passengers
Only luxury 4-door sedans with leather interiors and drivers with the highest rating qualify for Uber Black.

Setting preferences
Passengers can choose from three temperature presets and let you know in advance whether they want to chat or not, all directly from the app. They can also easily let you know if they need help with luggage or not before their ride through the app.
Vehicle eligibility criteria
You’ll find the list of eligible vehicles below. If you believe that a vehicle is missing from the list or you cannot find your particular make and model, please contact our support via the Uber Driver app.
