Bogotá Pride events and activities
One of the world’s biggest gay nightclubs, Theatron attracts thousands of revelers every weekend – with Pride offering an even greater incentive to visit and enjoy the atmosphere. Spread over 5 floors with 13 separate and distinct spaces, Theatron celebrates Pride with passion. The venue hosts a selection of art and photography exhibitions alongside nightly club parties over an extended Pride weekend. Thursday’s line-up includes a free opening party complete with a live erotic show, while Friday will see the venue’s spaces hosting the Party with Pride show–complete with karaoke in the Teatrino room–and a women-only party in the Lotus room. Both events come with free drinks included in the entrance fee. Pride Saturday will be wall-to-wall music at Theatron, with a special guest star concert as well as performances from Rahfa Madrid and the band Zur Face. Theatron’s Bogota Pride Celebrations culminate on Sunday with entertainment including a live band and drag acts.

This classy gay club in Bogotá’s Zona Rosa area attracts a chic, young crowd who come to eat, drink, and dance the night away in this LGBT-friendly space. Take a drink on the terrace bar or sample one of their delicious cocktails before enjoying entertainment from dancers and drag acts. Head over to El Mozo on Sunday, June 19 for a special Bogotá Pride Party from promoters XLSIOR. The featured ‘Vicious’ lineup for the evening includes sets from DJs Villasti, Maikol Venek, and Hansell Leyva, and the terrace will have extended opening from 2pm to 3am.

With venues in both the Zona Rosa and Chapinero, El Recreo de Adán bills itself as the gay bar where you can feel at home. With colorful, comfortable decor and a comprehensive cocktail list, you can relax and socialize with likeminded people during Pride. Need to fuel up for a night on the town? Pride isn’t Pride without a parade, so head over to the Enrique Olaya Herrera national park in Bogota on July 2 and join this march, which is aimed at promoting equality for the LGBT community as well as celebrating its achievements in culture, art, and activism. LGBT visitors and allies are welcome to come along and join this fun and peaceful march.

If you miss Bogota Pride, or simply want to extend your stay, why not head over to Cartagena where the fun continues into late July? Situated just a 90-minute domestic flight away from the Colombian capital, the city of Cartagena is a favorite getaway for the city’s residents and plays host to one of the country’s top Pride festivals. The 4-day festival has a packed program of events with something to suit all styles. Take a guided restaurant tour and taste some of the dishes that have earned this region a real gastronomic reputation or head over to the Galeria de Arte to view a specially put together exhibition from local artists. You could find yourself at one of the many planned Pride ‘fiestas’ including a cabaret night, drag night, and the Mister Pride contest; you might prefer to join in some specially organized sports on the Playa Hollywood, which will host a day of aerobics and an exciting ‘Run of the Titans’. There are also special theatre presentations for Pride at the Hotel San Lazaro as well as a drag brunch and drag cocktail events on the hotel Terrace. Don’t miss the Cartagena Pride expo, where businesses and organizations will gather to meet and greet with the LGBT community to showcase information and products with representatives of industries ranging from health and beauty to travel and tourism.
