The Uber Eats Cravings Report reveals what Canadians were craving in 2021
Written byAt Uber Eats, we know there’s no better feeling than having your order arrive just as you’d envisioned. And over the past year, delivery orders became even more special as a way for Canadians to support their local restaurants, receive their junk food fix safely, or send groceries to a loved one.
The third annual Uber Eats Cravings Report is a snapshot of the most popular, the most unusual, and some of the most unique delivery order requests we see each year. As you’ll see below, you really can get anything, just the way you want it, on Uber Eats.
Some of the trends this year include:
- Manners Matter: While Canada is known for being polite, Nanaimo, Ottawa and Kingston are setting the bar even higher by saying “please” and “thank you” the most in their ordering instructions.
- Top Tippers: British Columbia is home to Canada’s more generous tippers as Nanaimo, Victoria, and Kelowna round up the top cities that tip the most, followed by Sherbrooke and Quebec City.
- Health Nuts and Green Machines: Eaters in Halifax, Kingston and Montreal ordered the most healthy food last year.
- Picky Eaters: Eaters in Regina, St. John’s and Kelowna seem to be the pickiest as they often add special instructions to their orders.
- We Eat Everything: There’s no doubt that Canadians have a diverse taste for food as the top-ordered cuisines include Japanese, Asian, Indian, Mexican and Burgers and Sandwiches respectively.
“This year’s Uber Eats Cravings Report shows us that as Canadians across the country stayed home to stay safe, they relied on Uber Eats to bring their special requests to life,” says Lola Kassim, GM of Uber Eats Canada. “This year, Canadians wanted spice, extra pickles, and a lot of nuggets on the side. We also saw consumer behaviour shift, with more Canadians looking at delivery for convenience and grocery items, including french onion dip, salt and vinegar chips, and gummy bears.”
