A Guide to St. Patrick’s Day
Written byDust off your green gear and that ‘Kiss Me I’m Irish’ t-shirt (we know you have one), St. Patrick’s Day has arrived. And since there’s no better time of the year to release your inner Irish, here are 5 tips to help you paint the town green:
Tip 1: A Festive Meal
Enjoy a delicious, Irish-themed breakfast to set the tone for the day. Whether you’re feasting with friends on a traditional dish (black pudding and all), adding a few drops of green colouring to your pancake batter, or enjoying a simple bowl of Lucky Charms—start the festivities early on!
Want to go full-Irish? Up your game with a ride to these restaurants across the city and taste their traditional Irish plates: P.J. O’Briens, Ceili Cottage, Irish Embassy Pub & Grill, Fynn’s of Temple, or Brazen Head Pub.
Tip 2: Share Your Ride
Sharing a ride is the way to go on St. Paddy’s Day. Split the fare with your friends and keep those coins where they belong… in your pot of gold.
Ride uberXL if your crew is more than 4. If you’re flying solo to your next stop (or with 1 other person), ride uberPOOL. It has a price tag that’s up to 30% less than uberX. And psst… if you choose uberPOOL on March 12 and use the promo code: STPARTYS2016, your first uberPOOL ride is on us.
*Enjoy a free uberPOOL ride up to $15. Offer expires 03/21/2016.
Tip 3: Get Lucky With uberPOOL
Get in on the luck of the Irish! On March 12, we’ve teamed up with Carlsberg for the 6th annual St. Party’s Day, Canada’s largest St. Patrick’s Day festival. By entering the promo code: STPARTYS2016 in the app, over 5,000 Irish (for the day) partygoers will get their first uberPOOL ride on us. This is a party you won’t want to miss, so get your St. Party’s Day tickets before they sell out. Happy green-beer drinking!

Tip 4: Estimate Your Fare
Be in the know. You can check to see how much your trip will cost by doing a fare estimate before you request. If you’re riding uberPOOL, you’ll see the guaranteed fare in the app up front before you request.
If you do get a surge notification, keep in mind it’s a very popular time to ride and as more cars become available, the rates will adjust. Tap to get notified when surge has dropped, sometimes it only takes a few minutes.
Tip 5: Keep the Good Times Going
We’re still a full week away from the actual St. Paddy’s Day, which means Saturday is only the starting line. Whether you’re going full force on March 12, taking in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on the 13, or putting back a few Guinness at your favourite Irish pub during the week, you know how to reach us.
