Secret menu items go way beyond fast-food iced coffees with a different choice of milk. Toronto’s west end plays host to some of the best secret menu items—just be sure to know what you’re asking for.

At Doomie’s, an all vegan junk-food haven in Parkdale, request the Vegan MacDaddy, a vegan version of everyone’s favourite splurge food. All the element sare there—think lettuce, cheese, and yes, even secret sauce—but made without  any animal ingredients.

Lisa Marie, also on Queen West, offers a few different off-menu options for diners in the know. If a sandwich just won’t cut it, the unadvertised steak is a great option. At Carmen on Queen West, mention the password to be impressed by the secret paella that isn’t on the menu. (Pro Tip: the password is “secret paella”.) It’s a vast amount of seafood, and, even tastier, secrecy.

Toronto’s most famous secret menu joint is The Burger’s Priest. Stop by the Queen and Spadina location and ask for the Noah’s Ark, a mushroom patty with chili and cheese. The most mysterious item? The Four Horsemen of the Apoca-lypse. With four different patties and cheese, this is one extreme indulgence that should be saved for an epic cheat day. Don’t worry—your secret is safe with us.
