Have you ever wondered who the friendly-face in your driver’s seat is outside of the car? Meet Mariya, an Uber driver-partner. She’s been driving 6 months and is motivated by pushing new limits, growing her own business and learning from riders who hop in her car everyday.

Tell us about yourself.

I was born in Bulgaria and I have lived in Montreal for 11 years. I like extreme sports; I use to rock-climb and drive race cars in Bulgaria and I’m currently taking lessons to fly a private plane. I’m an independent business owner in the health industry and a proud Uber driver-partner!

Why did you decide to partner with Uber?

Driving is one of my passions, I love to get behind the wheel. I also just started my own business, which I’ve needed to invest a lot of time into. Uber gives me the flexibility I need to put the hours in and also make a decent amount of money while starting it.

Why do you enjoy driving with Uber?

Driving with Uber makes me feel happy, free and proud. I love interacting with people and constantly learning. With Uber, I’m still my own boss. I have the flexibility to focus on my company as well as the other things I enjoy, like playing tennis. I also enjoy that I have different experiences on a daily basis with Uber. There is always new people in my car, whether they’re from Montreal or other parts of the world.

What would you say to other females who are interested in driving with Uber?

I would definitely recommend driving with Uber to other women. The GPS technology makes Uber completely safe, and it’s an amazing opportunity to meet new people and learn everyday. I hope to see more women on the road!
