Uber Event for International Women’s Day
Written byFor International Women’s Day, Uber Montreal invited women driver-partners to an appreciation event. It was an opportunity to celebrate the women who help move our city, and bring reliable transportation to everyone, everywhere.
Thirty partners gathered over breakfast to meet and share their stories with each other. Mother-daughter partners, Amira & Nadia, as well as Gisele, a grandmother, and Mariya, a business owner, spoke to the larger group and shared their experiences.
Helena Loureiro, chef and owner of Portus Calle and Helena restaurants, and the author of 2 Portuguese recipe books, was invited as a guest speaker.

As the morning came to a close, the partners received an illustration made just for them by Anne-Julie Dudemaine, a local illustrator. The artwork highlights the reasons why so many women choose to drive with Uber; to be their own boss, to have a flexible schedule, to meet new people, to balance time between work and family, and to be safe and informed.
Since Montreal launched uberX in 2014, it’s been exciting to see more and more women driving with Uber. In the past 2 months alone, the number of new women driver-partners has more than doubled, with hundreds of women taking the wheel each month.
