Winter is here and when it’s cold outside and snowing, many people are choosing to stay in the warmth and comfort of their homes and order UberEATS. And with snow and cold temperatures upon us, we want to keep the UberEATS experience reliable.

Starting today in Toronto and Ottawa, UberEATS customers may pay more for delivery when they order from restaurants in areas where demand is high but delivery partners are scarce. Deliveries in the cold and snow take more work which means fewer delivery partners are hitting the road. The extra money from these orders goes toward financial incentives for delivery partners as well as our other operational costs.

An arrow below the restaurant name will notify users about the additional fee. The exact amount appears above the menu, and as a separate line item before checkout and on the order receipt. This way, they’ll still be able to order from the same variety of restaurants they love with fast delivery times. You’ll always know how much meal delivery will cost before you finalize your order.

These changes are an important step to ensure you continue to benefit from the same selection of restaurants and speed of delivery that you have come to expect with UberEATS. As always, we’ll be listening to your feedback so that we can continue to improve the experience for the people ordering on UberEATS, the restaurants they order from, and the delivery partners who make it all happen.
