Calgary, we’re finally here! With over ten thousand people city-wide in search of a ride last month, we couldn’t be more excited to finally serve the transportation needs of Calgarians far and wide.

And, who better to kick off the launch of uberX as our “Rider Zero” than Calgary’s very own entrepreneur, philanthropist, and former “Dragons’ Den” panelist, Brett Wilson! 

“Calgary is a city full of smart, connected people who’ve been anxiously awaiting the innovation that Uber brings to cities. Uber is about using time effectively. Ridesharing helps residents and visitors get around town more efficiently and affordably and it will be a boon for our local economy,” said Brett regarding Uber’s Calgary launch.

Want a ride too?

Starting at 2pm today, you can request your own uberX at just the tap of a button! Here’s how:

  1. Download the Uber app (iOS, Android or Windows Phone)
  2. Select the uberX icon, set your pickup location, and request your Uber ride!
  3. Meet your driver curbside- you’ll be able to track the exact location of your ride, and you’ll receive all the important details ahead of arrival, like contact info for the driver and the license plate of the car.
  4. Enjoy the ride! No need to worry about fumbling for cash- your ride will be charged directly to your Uber account when your trip is over and you’ll receive an emailed receipt.

And to sweeten the deal- from today until Sunday, October 18th at midnight, users new to Uber will receive their first two rides free (up to $20/ ride)! Learn more here.
