This Women’s History Month, we’re joining millions around the world in recognizing the achievements and contributions of women, both past and present, at Uber and beyond. We’re committed to creating a workplace culture that empowers and supports women to achieve their full potential—equal opportunities for growth, an inclusive environment where all voices are heard, and advocating for policies that promote gender equality and address systemic barriers.
This year, we’re sharing stories of Women at Uber from around the world making a difference at Uber and in our community.
Mandy Ho
Program Manager, Global Operations
📍 Amsterdam
My work centers on enhancing operational efficiency across teams, fostering inclusive work practices, and truly improving the customer experience.
I am also part of the Women at Uber EMEA’s GigSister team, a program to connect, grow and empower a community of Women drivers on the Uber platform. Engaging with and supporting the women drivers has been incredibly rewarding.
As the Asian at Uber Co-Chair in EMEA, I am responsible for the region’s strategy on how we celebrate and promote the wealth of Asian ideas and culture throughout Uber while leading a talented team who dedicate time next to their day-to-day work to uplift our community. These efforts have not only contributed to a more inclusive culture but ensures that Asian employees feel a stronger sense of belonging at work and educate ourselves and our allies on the many cultures that make up our community.

Since 2013, Uber has supported the creation of over 3 million economic opportunities across sub-Saharan Africa by being a partner to cities, providing drivers a platform to access flexible, independent earnings and riders a reliable, safe and convenient mobility option. My role is to define the strategy and operations in the region, drive execution on the ground, and represent our brand with local stakeholders.
I believe when it comes to diversity and inclusion we ought and should seize the responsibility to lead the conversation to further equity in tech and in our communities. I will continue to emulate and raise my hand to take part in these conversations and initiatives in Africa and beyond.
It’s been really empowering to be able to tie my values and my work together—a journey of discovering myself and my strength.
Genny Yang
Director, Sales Operations
📍 Singapore
I started my journey with Uber as the Head of Growth for Uber Eats Japan. My role was to drive rapid demand growth and foster top-line expansion. In the midst of a burgeoning industry, the online food delivery sector witnessed a surge of entrants into the Japanese market, however, we were able to capture market leadership and more than double our business through a strong focus on customer experience and excellent execution.
Post Japan, I was entrusted with leading APAC Sales Operations, supporting our merchant-loving commercial teams in 5 critical markets from Singapore.
This year, by broadening my focus on EMEA, I gained new perspective on how much diversity and inspiring practices we cultivated over the years. Uber never stops amazing me with the multitude of opportunities it offers!
Kanako Noto
Senior Public Policy Associate
📍 Japan
What I find really special about Uber as a platform and a company is that it’s a place where tech meets real life, making a genuine impact on people’s lives.
As the most aged country in the world, Japan is starting to face societal challenges, including the elderly population securing access to fresh groceries. I pitched the idea of using Uber’s grocery delivery services to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and secured a pilot program. We gave free lessons to seniors on ordering groceries, plus discounts, and I was overwhelmed by the positive response from participants!
I have always been a passionate advocate of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, and Uber has provided the platform and resources to actualize this passion. My joining coincided with the launch of the Japan DEI Committee, and together we were able to launch a Pink Ribbon campaign in support of breast cancer awareness.

Women empowerment is at the heart of who I am. I have had a strong female role model in my mother who provided me with the confidence that I could do whatever I set my mind to and who showed me that with resilience and effort I could accomplish anything.
It is because of this support that for me, as I’ve grown in my career, I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t the only one growing but that I brought up others with me by providing them with the tools and support they needed to thrive.
It is through this philosophy that I’ve held positions in Women at Uber. As the global co-lead, we’ve been able to to focus on providing women and allies opportunities for sorority, growth, and empowerment.
In my day job, I lead the LATAM Driver team, whose mission is to be drivers’ voice across LATAM by unlocking access opportunities and building scalable, sustainable, and innovative solutions for them to succeed with Uber.
Karina Kohl
Manager II, Engineering
📍 Brazil
I’ve been working in tech for 22 years as a Software Engineer, Software Architect, Technical Product Manager, Site Lead and Engineering Manager.
When I began, I used to be the only woman in the room and my voice was not often heard. Throughout the years, I’ve seen the number of women in tech grow, but not at the rate I would like. Earlier in my career, I lost count of how many times I heard that tech was not supposed to be a place for women.
So, during my Ph.D. in Social and Human Aspects of Software Engineering, I studied the impact of gender diversity on engineering teams to show the world that tech is for everyone. My research showed, in a quantitative way, that there’s no difference between what different genders deliver in terms of coding (velocity, commits, quality).
But my qualitative study showed that many women still feel oppressed and discriminated again in many workplaces. More than ever, the conversation around gender equality in tech must be at the table. We take this topic seriously here at Uber to ensure we’re creating an environment where everyone can grow.

In 2023, Uber powered an average of 26 million daily trips. This team builds the right checks and balances to help prevent the one-in-a-million from happening.
Our tech teams have built proactive monitoring, emergency response, road safety solutions, educational courses and insurance tech to support claims handling – to name a few. Our mission is to ensure users have peace of mind when they interact with the Uber platform—whether that’s as an earner, a rider or an eater.
I joined the team in 2014 and have had the privilege of seeing it grow over the past 10 years. Safety is critical to Uber and Stand for Safety is a core value.

Over the past 3 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as the Global Communications Lead for Veterans at Uber, Parents at Uber, and Los Ubers. As a proud veteran spouse with a husband who served in the U.S. Air Force, it has deeply influenced my work and commitment to the community.
One of my proudest achievements is establishing a strong relationship between Veterans at Uber and the Wounded Warrior Project, reflecting our shared commitment to supporting and advocating for the veteran community.
I’m passionate about fostering a more inclusive community within all our Employee Resource Groups and ensuring that the voices and experiences of all our employees are honored and integrated throughout Uber.
Navigating through different organizations and teams within Uber has been an extraordinary journey, and I am honored to act as a bridge between the business and Uber’s vital commitment to diversity and inclusion.
We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let’s move the world forward, together.
