To mark the upcoming International Women’s Day 2021, we have partnered with Dhaka-based non-profit foundation, Better Future for Women (BFW), which will enable women to gain skills so they can earn a livelihood as drivers on Uber’s platform.

The partnership agreement was signed by Md. Ali Armanur Rahman, Country Head, Uber Bangladesh, and Sumaiya Shimu, Founder and Chairman, Better Future for Women.

The association aims to create micro-entrepreneurial opportunities for women from across marginalized sections of society, by skilling them and providing them with avenues to earn a sustainable livelihood. Uber will host an onboarding mela in March-end, where interested women can sign up to the platform. Once onboarded, the women drivers will get a designated hotline for support.

Sumaiya Shimu, Founder and Chairman, Better Future for Women, said, “Better Future for Women is happy to partner with Uber to create economic opportunities for Bangladeshi women through supporting onboarding of women on Uber’s ride-sharing platform which continues to become an integral part of our daily lives in Dhaka and beyond.”
