As we soak up the festive vibes of recently concluded Eid celebrations and gear up for another vibrant summer of travel, it’s time to buckle up as Mercury is back in retrograde (yes, blame it for forgetfulness). And guess what? It’s time for the eighth edition of the Uber Lost & Found Index.

The 2024 Uber Lost & Found Index provides a snapshot of last year’s most frequently forgotten items, the hours of the day, days of the week, and times of the year when Uber riders reported lost items in Bangladesh.

Last year, Bangladeshis had a knack for forgetfulness, especially during the evenings of the summer months of May and June. Weekends were also a prime time for leaving items behind. Throughout the year, clothing and umbrellas were the top contenders for the most forgotten items in Ubers across Bangladesh, closely followed by utility items like wallets, pillows, and headphones. Besides leaving the usuals behind, Bangladeshis also forget unexpected things such as speakers.

Backed by insights and data, our Lost and Found Index aims to educate riders in a fun yet informative manner about in-app options available to you at the tap of a button, in case you lose or forget something in your Uber during your trip.

Make sure to double-check all your belongings before exiting your ride. But in case something goes missing, don’t worry; you can easily try to retrieve it using the app. Here’s a simple guide for riders searching for their lost items.

  • Tap on “Menu” icon
  • Tap “Your Trips” and select the trip where you left something
  • Tap “Report an issue with this trip”
  • Tap “I lost an item”
  • Tap “Contact my driver about a lost item”
  • Scroll down and enter the phone number you would like to be contacted at. Tap submit
  • If you lost your phone, enter a friend’s phone number instead
  • Your phone will ring and connect you directly with your driver’s mobile number.
  • If your driver picks up and confirms that your item has been found, coordinate a mutually convenient time and place to meet for its return to you

If you are unable to connect with the driver, use ‘in-app support’ to report the loss, and Uber Support Team will step in to help you
