Uber turns to True Blue Aussies to go Green
Written byAs more Australians consider how to make the switch to more sustainable options, Uber is making it easy with its now fully electric Uber Green. Since April 2025, Uber has begun phasing out hybrid vehicles for Uber Green, while continuing to make sure Uber Green trips remain the same price as UberX. This means riders can choose a zero-emission ride without paying more.
To mark Uber Green now being fully electric, Uber has enlisted some of Australia’s most beloved True Blue icons – Michael Caton, Stephen Curry and Anthony Simcoe – to get behind one colour: green! The iconic Aussie film trio reunites for Uber’s latest Uber Green campaign to declare that going green is “just common sense”!
Watch the reunion here.
Speaking on his involvement, Michael Caton said, “I reckon the best thing we can do is leave the world a better place for the next generation, and making choices that are better for the environment is a massive part of that. When greener choices are as easy as tapping for an Uber with no vehicle emissions and fully electric, why would you do anything else!”
“It’s been 28 years since the three of us last appeared on screen together and I couldn’t resist the chance to catch up with a couple of old mates over a beer, and to back a great initiative at the same time,” added Stephen Curry.
Anthony Simcoe added, “There aren’t many people who could convince me to get in front of the camera again but Stephen and Michael are two of them. I thought my acting days were done to be honest – getting together with these two brought back a lot of good memories. Add in supporting greener choices and it was a no brainer.”
Uber Green’s new campaign launches as new research uncovers the biggest reasons we don’t go green is due to cost (over 40% say so) and convenience (65% of us choose ease over eco-friendly). Young people, especially Gen Z, feel this even more strongly! Aussies also tell us that they would choose more sustainable options if it was as easy and convenient as choosing a lipstick shade and ice cream flavour.
Managing Director of Uber Australia & New Zealand, Emma Foley, said: “As Uber works towards a future that is shared and electric, we have a huge role to play Down Under. Our goal is to make it easy to choose more sustainable options without compromising on price or experience. With Uber Green priced the same as UberX and now fully electric, switching to an electric ride is just a tap away. We are proud to have three iconic True Blue Aussies join forces with us to remind people across Australia that greener choices are available on the Uber app.”
Uber Green’s transition to a fully electric rideshare product is a significant step in our commitment to an all electric future. Travelling more sustainably should not cost more, which is why choosing an Uber Green trip is just as affordable as requesting a regular UberX trip. Uber Green rides are available in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Canberra.
