More transport choice for even more Toowoomba locals
Written byWe’re super excited to be launching uberASSIST in Toowoomba to help local residents with accessibility needs move around their community more easily.
Since our launch in Toowoomba, we’ve seen more than 13,000 local residents embrace ridesharing as a safe, reliable and affordable way to get around the city.
And from today, we’re delighted to offer choice to even more members of the community.
Uber State Manager for Queensland Alex Golden said uberASSIST had been popular with communities across Australia.
“It’s been really encouraging to see more than 20 eligible local driver-partners put their hand up to join UberASSIST,” Mr Golden said.
“They’ve all undertaken expert third-party training developed and delivered by the Australian Network on Disability.
“This will ensure they have the right skills and knowledge to help members of the community with different accessibility needs get from A to B safely.
“With uberASSIST, Toowoomba locals with folding wheelchairs, walking aids or collapsible scooters can push a button and get a ride within minutes.”
UberASSIST is now available in 12 cities across Australia.
