Whether you’re stuck in traffic on the way to a meeting, want to let the grandparents know what time you’ll be arriving for Sunday dinner or simply want to let a mate know where you are, it’s now even easier to let people know “I’m on my way”.

Introducing SafetyNet

Transparency is one important way that we use technology to improve safety in transportation. With the simple ability to share trip details with loved ones, friends or colleagues, you can easily let them know you’re on your way. That’s why we’re proud to announce that SafetyNet –– an expansion of the “ShareMyETA” feature ––  will now be available to riders across Australia.

SafetyNet lets riders pre-select up to five contacts to receive information about their trip, including their route and estimated time of arrival as well as their driver’s first name and vehicle information. Then with two taps of a button, riders can share their trip details with these contacts, should they choose to.

With SafetyNet, riders no longer need an SMS plan plan on their phone to send their status to friends and family. Uber sends the link directly from our server, which means every rider – regardless of their phone plan – can rely on this feature.
