As today marks International Day of People with Disability, we’re very excited to be launching Assist in three regional cities in Victoria to help residents with accessibility needs move around their community more easily.

Since launching in Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat, we’ve seen thousands of local residents embrace ridesharing as a safe, reliable and affordable way to get around the city.

From today, we’re delighted to offer choice to even more members of these communities.

Uber State Manager for Victoria, Matt Horn, said Assist had been popular with a range of communities across Australia.

“It’s been really encouraging to see top-rated local driver-partners put their hand up to join Assist,” Mr. Horn said.

“They’ve all undertaken expert third-party training developed and delivered by the Australian Network on Disability.

“This will ensure they have the right skills and knowledge to help members of the community with different accessibility needs get from A to B safely.

“With Assist, locals in regional Victoria with folding wheelchairs, walking aids or collapsible scooters can push a button and get a ride within minutes.”

“We are committed to bringing rideshare access to regional Australia, and the launch of Assist in Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat is a key part of this. By providing Australians with a safe, affordable and reliable mode of transportation, we are making it easier to get around and complementing local transport networks.”

Assist is now available in 17 cities across Australia.
