On the eve of Oh My Greek Week, George Calombaris dined with Chris Lucas at Baby, the two highly acclaimed restaurateurs took time out of their busy schedules to catch up and reflect on the progress that Australia’s food scene has made.

“Once upon a time we’d have to go overseas to find the hottest food trends…now chef’s from all around the world are coming to Australia instead.” Calombaris said.

OMG Week is indicative of exactly that. The week long celebration which is spearheaded by Calombaris celebrates Greek culture and will boast an impressive line-up of international chefs in Australia’s Hellenic heartland, Melbourne.

“This year we’re really pleased with the line-up of chefs and to have someone who is widely recognised as Greece’s best pastry chef, Stelios Parliaros (Sweet Alchemy, Athens) is a massive privilege.” Calombaris said.

Now in its second year, OMG Week will run between the 21st and 26th of November featuring many special guests, events and the Greek by George Calombaris pop-up eatery at Federation Square.

If you can’t get to one of the events or make it down to Federation Square, then luckily it will be running with a twist this year.

“This year we are excited to have partnered with UberEATS, which means if you can’t make it down to Fed Square for a crab souva, then we’ll deliver one to you.”

“It’s remarkable what food delivery has done for Melbourne, the fact that we can run a week long pop-up and have it set up with UberEATS for delivery is something else.” Calombaris said.

Greek by George Calombaris will be located on the Flinders Street side of Federation Square and will be exclusively available on UberEATS between 11:30am – 9:00pm Monday to Saturday.
