Nikki Heyder fell in love with cooking from an early age, but never thought this hobby would lead to the creation of cafe and nutrition movement NOOD.

I first fell in love with baking when I was a child and my dad bought me ‘My First Cook Book’ (that’s actually what the book was called) and I used to make recipes from it – which I just couldn’t get enough of.” Nikki said.

After studying Commerce and Human Resources she worked as a HR consultant for over four years before opting to pursue a career in food.

NOOD started as a very simple, innocent health blog where I would document all my recipes and experiments in the kitchen…now we have our first cafe located in Leederville.” Nikki said.

NOOD is every bit nutrition as it is education and follows the philosophy of ‘healthy food for busy bodies.’  With that mantra it was an easy decision for Nikki to partner with UberEATS.

“The transition has been seamless. It gets especially busy on really hot days where I think people are too hot to leave their offices and are craving something light and healthy.”

Nikki attributes the inspiration and the style of her cooking to her multi-cultural upbringing.

“I am very lucky to have been brought up in a truly multi-cultural household. My mother is Italian and my father Indonesian/Arabic – we grew up in Asia as children and have travelled much of the world.”

This experience has allowed Nikki to incorporate flavours from around the world and from her childhood -into ‘ready to eat’ lunch boxes designed for ‘busy bodies’.nood_hero_2880x2304_blog_960x540

While the NOOD movement grows, Nikki continues to to spread the word as a keynote speaker on wellness, nutrition and health and while it’s a busy lifestyle, there’s always motivation to do more.

We might look at opening another NOOD Cafe within the next 12 months but the location has to be perfect. Other than that we will ramp up workshops next year and focus a lot more on encouraging people to take control of their health.”
