Bunnings and Uber team up to bring same day parcel delivery to regional Australia
Written byBunnings and Uber have teamed up to equip selected stores across regional Australia with same day parcel delivery this holiday season.
The offer is now live across more than 63 regional Bunnings stores nationwide for parcel-sized orders placed on the Bunnings website from eligible stores.
Uber is also now officially a same-day parcel delivery carrier for 45 metropolitan Bunnings stores that already offer the service, enabling even greater flexibility.
In the first phase of the partnership, customers who place their order online by 2pm will receive their delivery by 7pm that day across more than one hundred stores in every state and territory.
It will be clear which stores offer same day parcel delivery at checkout, with customers still given the opportunity to choose economy delivery or click and collect should they wish. The link-up between the two brands is a welcome addition for shoppers ahead of the holiday season.
“We’re committed to offering our customers the best experience, widest range and lowest prices, and same day parcel delivery across regional Australia is another way we can improve this offering”, said Bunnings Chief Operating Officer, Ryan Baker.
“Some customers value coming in to the store to browse, talk to the team and enjoy the Bunnings experience such as a coffee in the cafe or the sausage sizzle hosted by a local community group. But for others, the convenience of delivery is preferred.
“This builds on our current same day parcel delivery offering across metro Australia, bringing more convenience to our regional customers, and hopefully helping to ease some of the stress this time of year can bring.”
“We’re helping Bunnings beat the festive freeze on delivery, allowing their busy regional customers the flexibility and convenience of shopping right up until 2pm on 23 December,” said General Manager, Uber Direct ANZ Duncan Petit, “Bunnings is offering economical same-day parcel delivery for its customers via Uber’s delivery network with a flat fee for all same-day deliveries placed online.”
Deliveries in both regional and metropolitan areas across Australia will incur a $15 fee. There will be geographical limits on how far orders are able to travel as part of the same day promise, with a radius of 15 kilometres from the store.
Uber’s Direct business has experience supporting hardware retailers in the United States, and expects similar positive demand in Australia to what they’ve encountered for comparable retailers in North America.
