From April 4-15, the Games will take place on the Gold Coast, bringing an expected 700,000 spectators from all around the world. There will be significant changes on Gold Coast roads during this time; read on to find out more.
- Temporary road closures
You can find an interactive map showing the day-to-day Road Closures at t.uber.com/GCroadclosures
Road closures are planned for Southport, Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise, as well as around major sporting and aquatic centres such as Carrara Stadium.
During the Games, Uber Maps will be updated to reflect these closures. For improved accuracy, we suggest switching your navigation provider to Uber Maps in
Uber Driver App > Account > Settings > Navigation Provider.
- Major venues & pickup/drop off zones
Our engineers are using technology to improve the pickup experience around major venues by helping guide riders to safe, legal pickup and dropoff zones. See the maps below to understand how to access these zones around major venues..
Carrara Stadium
The pickup/dropoff zone is on Birmingham Road, in front of Emmanuel College.
This area will be a designated public pickup and drop off area during events.
Riders will be directed to request from this zone via the app.
Uber Maps will be updated to direct you around the road closures.
We suggest approaching via the Southbound lane on Birmingham Road
Robina Stadium
The Pickup and dropoff zone is located on Robina Town Centre Drive.
We suggest heading East on Robina Parkway and turning onto Robina Town Centre Drive heading North
The best exit following a pick-up or drop-off should be along Collyer Quays
Broadbeach celebration zone
Riders will be guided to safe pick up points.
Coolangatta
Please note some changed conditions such as certain loading zones that have been turned into bus zones for the period of the Games
Gold Coast Aquatic Centre
Uber Maps will be updated to guide you to the pick-up spot at Athol Patterson Park.
Oxenford studios (Outback Spectacular)
Outback Spectacular has provided a pick up area in their car park.
Surfers Paradise
Please note changes to where you can pull over.

- Travelling between Brisbane and the Gold Coast
The M1 Motorway is expected to be significantly busier than usual with long delays during the busiest periods
Traveling from Brisbane to Gold Coast
Aim to travel very early in the morning before the usual peak, during the middle part of the day from about midday to 3:00pm or later in the evening from 7:00pm.
Tips for traveling from Gold Coast to Brisbane
Aim to travel either before 3:00pm or from 7:00pm. We expect that it will be significantly busier from about 10pm.
For more info can be found here under ‘Busiest times on the M1’. - Park n Ride
Games ticket holders have access to free public transport. When traffic is heavy, it may be faster for your rider to get a trip to a Park n Ride location. All Park n Ride locations shown above.
