At Uber, safety of drivers and riders is very important to us. If you have a dashcam, you can choose to register it with Uber and share your video footage in the event of a safety incident.
In cases of rider reports made against you, you will be able to submit footage should you wish to challenge any relevant allegations.
Uber will notify riders if you have registered a dashcam. If they don’t want to be recorded, riders will have the option to cancel freely and request a new trip with a different driver. This will not impact star ratings and no cancellation fees will be charged.
This new feature demonstrates our commitment and ongoing efforts to raise the bar on safety standards across the industry.
How to register
To register:
- Select the Account tab
- Choose App Settings
- Select ‘Video Recording’
- Click ‘Register’ and then select your current vehicle to register your dashcam
Please remember footage uploaded should relate to the trip and the relevant safety issue only.
This feature is only available in South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania, ACT and New Zealand at the moment.
