Help support employees as they return to work with Uber for Business
6August,2020 / Australia
Among many changes, the COVID-19 pandemic has made us all rethink the way we work. As some states and governments begin to reopen across the country, many companies are faced with the same challenge: how to continue to support essential workers or bring their employees back to the office while prioritising their safety and well-being. From supporting commuting alternatives to meal programs fulfilled by Uber Eats, Uber for Business has a variety of solutions to help keep employees, comfortable, and productive as they navigate work in a COVID-19 world.
Committing to safety
As cities begin to move and employees return to work, safety is a top priority at Uber. As part of a $50 million commitment in Australia, Uber and Uber Eats have partnered with Dettol to provide access to free disinfectants and sanitisers, including Dettol Instant Hand Sanitiser and Disinfectant Wipes to active eligible driver partners and delivery partners.
Uber has also introduced new Door-to-Door safety standards. Before a driver or delivery partner can go online, they will be asked to confirm, via a new Go Online Checklist, that they’ve taken certain safety measures and are wearing a mask or face cover in regions where they are mandated. To help uphold these safety standards, Uber is encouraging both drivers and riders to hold each other accountable. If either party feels unsafe, they can cancel without penalty and report incidents via the Uber app. Drivers and riders who repeatedly violate mask policies risk losing access to Uber.
Reimagining the daily commute
A recent study1 conducted by Uber found that 69% of surveyed employees believe Uber is as safe or safer than other modes of transport. By providing employees with rides, companies can offer an alternative to buses, trains, or driving to workgiving workers some peace of mind as times remain uncertain. This can also help lessen typical commuting hassles, like wait times, road congestion, or expensive and limited parking.
With Uber for Business, companies can customise their commute programs so they are stress-free and affordable. Subsidise all or part of the program and manage everything from a single dashboard. Not interested in a full program? Use Uber Vouchers to give employees flexible ride options and pay for only what gets used. To easily request rides on behalf of employees or interviewees, use Uber Central.

Feeding your employees
Companies can encourage social distancing and boost morale with a meal program that allows employees to order food on Uber Eats. Employers can easily set customised parameters around budget, delivery locations, days and times, and expense codes so employees eat well while staying within company policy. Employees can use the web or the app to order food from local restaurants on the platform and request a no-contact delivery option while avoiding unnecessary trips outside of the office.
For more flexibility, companies can also use Vouchers for Uber Eats to provide a “pay as you go” model with single or bulk offerings. They allow employers to create spending order limits, monitor costs, and gain insights into overall usage. Whether it’s treating those who are still working remotely or providing a one-time reward for a job well done, Vouchers are a great way to simply show employee appreciation.
