Dispatch Fee Launch in Basel 2026

We want every minute you spend online to count. We are launching Dispatch Fee. We are also lowering the Service Fee on all completed trips, so you earn more on every trip. A fixed fee applies per exclusive trip dispatch received, but completing the trips you receive means lower fees and greater earnings overall.

Dispatch Fee:

At Uber, we strive to make the driving experience as efficient and equitable as possible. Therefore, we are excited to announce a new pilot program: Dispatch Fee.

Some drivers may choose not to accept multiple dispatches, which can lead to an imbalance in opportunities for other drivers who are eager to take trips. The goal of the Dispatch Fee pilot is to ensure that trips go to drivers who are ready to accept them. If you are not ready or available to take a trip, you can always go offline to avoid receiving any dispatches. As always, you remain free to choose if and when to use the Uber app.

Dispatch fee will be live for selected drivers in Basel, starting June 29, 2026, over the course of 8 weeks. Here's what you need to know about how the program works.

How will this work?

  •  The dispatch fee: For every exclusive trip dispatch you receive, you will be charged a fixed dispatch cost of CHF 0.30 (Incl. VAT). Dispatches received via Trip Radar or those received during an ongoing trip are excluded from this charge.
  • Lower Service Fee: As part of this pilot, service fees have been reduced by 2%.
    • Uber Black and Comfort: From 28% service fee to 26% service fee
    • UberX and UberXL: 25% service fee to 23% service fee

A simple example

Let’s say:

  • You receive 30 trip dispatches
  • You complete 27 trips
  • Each trip, the rider pays CHF 16
  • Each exclusive trip dispatch is charged CHF 0.30 (Incl. VAT)

Current model (25% Service Fee excl. VAT)

  • Gross earnings: CHF 16 * 27 = CHF 432
  • Service Fee (25%): CHF 432 * 25% = CHF  108
  • VAT on Service Fee: CHF 108 * 8.1%  = CHF  8.75
  • Total net earnings: 432 - 108 - 8.75  = CHF 315.25

New model (23% Service Fee excl VAT + CHF 0.30 per exclusive dispatch (incl. VAT)

  • Gross earnings: CHF 16 * 27 = CHF 432
  • Service Fee (23%): CHF 432 * 23% = CHF 99.36
  • VAT on Service Fee: CHF 99.36 * 8.1%  = CHF 8.05
  • Dispatch fee: 30 Offers × CHF 0.30 = CHF 9
  • Total net earnings: 432 - 99.36 - 8.05 - 9 = CHF 315.59

Note: These numbers are fictional examples only; actual payouts depend on weekly marketplace activity.

What's the takeaway? The lower Service Fee increases what you keep on every completed trip. The total dispatch charges depend on how many offers you receive. Your overall earnings will vary based on the balance between the two.

How the Dispatch Fee payout is treated for VAT

Costs related to the Dispatch Fee will be reflected on your tax invoices and weekly statements. The CHF 0.30 dispatch fee you pay is inclusive of Swiss VAT. The reduction in your Service Fee rate is applied automatically on each completed trip. You do not need to do any extra calculation; everything is handled on your statement just like a normal adjustment to your Uber service fees.

How will this look on your weekly statements and invoices?

Check your Weekly Statement and invoices to see all the costs related to the dispatch fee. We will also send you a weekly summary email of your earnings related to the Dispatch Fee during this pilot.

Please note that weekly statements are not official tax documents. Please use your tax invoices for your tax compliance obligations.

The Dispatch Fee pilot ("Pilot") is a temporary program that will run for 8 weeks. Drivers may not be included in the pilot. Drivers are randomly selected to be a part of the program. Drivers who are a part of the program were informed via email prior to the launch of dispatch fee. During the Pilot, drivers will be charged a Dispatch Fee per exclusive dispatch. At the end of each week, Uber will deduct from your earnings the amount equivalent to the number of dispatches subject to the Dispatch Fee; General Terms & Conditions apply.
