Uber Borrow: On-demand Carsharing

Need a car for errands, a quick trip, or a weekend getaway? With Borrow, you can book a vehicle and drive it yourself—no rental counters, no waiting. Reserve through the Uber app just like a ride, and a driver will deliver the car to you. Take the keys, and go.

How Uber Borrow works

  1. Enter pickup and dropoff locations just as you would when requesting UberX*
  2. Tap Uber Borrow—you can book a car for 6, 9, or 24 hours
  3. When the owner arrives to deliver their car to you, share the in-app PIN with them
  4. Inspect the car at the beginning and end of your trip; we recommend taking pictures of the front, back, and sides of the vehicle
  5. When your trip is over, ensure the vehicle is clean and top up the fuel to the original level or higher
  6. The owner will pick up their car from the original dropoff location

Please return the car in the same condition you received it. Owners appreciate a clean and refueled vehicle—it shows respect for their car and helps keep Uber Borrow running smoothly for everyone. Additional charges may apply if the vehicle isn’t clean or refueled. (See the Uber Borrow Fee Policy for details.)

Uber Borrow is available from 8am to 10pm within the downtown core. If you’re having trouble getting matched with an owner, it may be because no cars are available at that time. Give it another try after 10 minutes, and please make sure you’re located within the service area.

Insurance

Uber provides insurance coverage during Borrow reservations for eligible incidents like damage, theft, or crashes. Here’s the certificate of insurance that applies during your reservation.
