Uber – We’re here for Drivers
“My taxi company will take away my taxi if I partner with you guys” is a comment we regularly hear at Uber Toronto HQ. With threats like this, it’s unsurprising that drivers across Toronto are scared. Scared of losing their source of income, livelihood and financial security. This is just one tactic that big taxi brokerages are employing to limit the financial success of drivers.
Building Demand
The taxi industry in Toronto has grown at 1% annually because traditional taxi brokerages have minimal incentive to grow demand for taxis. Uber is striving to grow ridership with our initiatives like Uber for Business and other strategic partnerships. Uber for Business allows companies to pay for employee rides and encourages them to use Uber over other alternatives. Recently, Uber also launched a partnership with Concur, the world’s leader in spend management solutions. This partnership will allow all 25 million Concur users to link their Uber and Concur accounts resulting in more rides for our partners.
Drama Free
Uber prides itself on the transparency and equality of the Uber Platform. When a rider makes a request, the driver who is physically closest will always receive it first. This process eliminates the bias and favoritism that abound in traditional taxi dispatches. As we continue to scale our business, this process will ensure that all of our partners are able to share in the growth equally.
Driver Success
Finally, Uber wants to ensure that all partners who join our community are able to succeed. Uber works hard to help our partners provide the best possible customer service by motivating them with innovative campaigns and contests. For one of our most recent campaigns, Uber sent 8 of our best partners to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup Final. Check out the video below that showcases the winners!
