We thought it would be fun to look back on our first week and reflect on how uberX has already impacted our city – so here’s a snapshot of Week 1

My name is Sasha and I’m a 34 year old driver, born and raised in Toronto. I love DJing and producing music in my spare time, and I enjoy playing Poker whenever I get a chance. I work part-time as a same-day courier in the city, so naturally I know the city inside and out. I have a travel and tourism (for hospitality) diploma from Seneca College and I believe that helps me maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and understanding the needs and comfort of passengers. I also own a cosmetics company and a shipping company which helps pay my bills outside of the courier and Uber platforms. I live in Hong Kong during the winter months and I am planning to open an ice cream cafe in Kowloon. I consider myself a people person. I love to meet new people and I love providing 5-star service for my passengers. There is a special feeling knowing I have driven someone home, or to work, or to the airport, or to a club/bar etc…in a safe, comfortable, and efficient manner. A safe and satisfied passenger is always my #1 priority.
I wanted to become an uberX driver because driving comes naturally to me. With over 10 years experience driving packages throughout the Greater Toronto Area and beyond, it was a very easy decision to give the Uber platform a try. I’ve had the pleasure to drive some really nice people during my first week with uberX, clients have been nothing short of stellar. My most memorable ride so far was a couple of guys going from one bar to another, these gentlemen were really amazing and were excited to try uberX for the first time. When we met, one passenger immediately said, “man you’re a cool guy, love the car”. When I dropped them off at their desired location, as they were walking off, I heard him say to his friend “that’s the best ride I’ve had in my entire life”. That’s what it’s all about, providing a safe and enjoyable journey.
I must say, uberX has been a lot of fun for me and at the same time, great for extra cash on the side. I am 27 years old, of Egyptian background, but was born and raised in Abudhabi/Dubai. I moved to Canada around the age of 14. I have a full time job at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel and I deal with numerous types of people on a daily basis which definitely helps with my uberX interactions. I also have been a member of the Canadian Armed Forces since the age of 17 and still currently serve in the Military. Timing and discipline means a lot to me which has made me more of aware of timing while uberX-ing around.
My hobby is my motorcycle! I have been riding motorcycles since the age of 4. I own 3 motorcycles and try to ride as much as I can on spare time. When I have no time to ride, I spend my weekends off teaching others how to ride. I am also a certified motorcycle riding instructor with Learning Curves for about 3 years.
I never thought I would be an uberX driver and did not know what Uber was until I was browsing on Facebook one night and came across an uberX ad. I read all about it and found it to be a very cool and interesting idea. The flexibility of the work hours makes it even better for me since I have a busy schedule and also a 5 month old baby!
Over all I am very pleased with uberX and I am here to help when I can!
