Airports in Chicago, Kansas City, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Vancouver recognized for creating best-in-class rideshare experiences
At Uber, we’re committed to making travel seamless — from the moment a passenger steps off their plane to the moment they arrive at their final destination. Airports play a critical role in creating smooth rideshare experiences, and as one of the largest technology players in the airport ground transportation space, Uber is pleased to recognize outstanding partners across the US and Canada. Each awarded airport demonstrated excellence in categories spanning customer experience, sustainability, shortest wait times, and more.
Quickest Pickup
Speed matters, and the ground transportation team at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) has set the bar high with an impressive average wait time of four minutes between the rider request and pickup times. By dedicating a close-by staging lot, optimizing pickup locations, and leveraging Uber’s ExpressMatch technology to reposition a limited number of drivers directly to the terminal, MSY has made getting a ride faster and more convenient than ever. This industry-leading experience proved all the more valuable during the 2025 Super Bowl, where MSY and Uber partnered to efficiently service a record number of trips over a short time.

Experience Obsessed
Over the past few years, Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) has transformed the rideshare experience through a series of thoughtful improvements. First, the airport relocated the driver waiting lot to a close-by location and activated dispatching technologies like Rematch, which significantly shortened passenger wait times. Next, the ground transportation team set out to improve the customer experience by expanding and redesigning the pickup area. The transformed space includes provider-marked pickup zones, facilitating more efficient rider and driver matching. These changes have reduced wait times and created a more intuitive experience for riders and drivers alike.

Throughout 2024, Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas demonstrated a strong commitment to improving the passenger experience. In the months leading up to the 2024 Super Bowl, the airport worked closely with Uber to prepare for the influx of passengers. In addition to adding significant driver staging space and staffing pickup locations to manage rideshare operations during the event, LAS and Uber partnered to launch Rematch to improve reliability and reduce rider wait times. Peak operations during Super Bowl LVIII were highly successful, and Rematch continues to benefit passengers and drivers today. In recent months, LAS has invested in both of its rideshare pickup locations to further enhance rider and driver safety and comfort. They will similarly be reimagining the rideshare pickup experience at its Rent-A-Car Center.

Smartest Space
Kansas City International Airport (MCI) has set a new standard for rideshare infrastructure by collaborating closely with industry partners on designing its new terminal frontage. The result is a thoughtfully designed facility with clear signage, dedicated rideshare pickup areas, and the strategic use of zones and dynamic pickup technology (which automatically distributes requests across a frontage) to help spread demand efficiently. The dynamic dispatching technology assigns customer requests across all available curb segments to promote greater efficiency and eliminate double-parked vehicles. MCI’s collaborative engagement with rideshare stakeholders enabled Uber to deliver space and operational recommendations that will help streamline today’s operations and allow flexibility within this beautiful new terminal complex well into the future.

Sustainability
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is leading the way in sustainable rideshare initiatives. By offering a significant discount for electric and hybrid rideshare options, the airport has incentivized the shift to sustainable ride options. Customers who request Uber Green and Comfort Electric products now enjoy a savings of up to 80% on airport per-trip fees. As a result, trips completed by zero-emission and hybrid vehicles at YVR have more than doubled since the addition of the discount.

At Uber, we’re proud to partner with airports around the globe that continue to innovate and improve the rideshare experience. From piloting technologies to investing in new pickup areas, airports are going above and beyond to create smart spaces and foster collaborative partnerships that warmly welcome travelers and those returning home.
