Every single day, our partners keep Connecticut moving—to work, school, dinners with friends, family reunions, and more. And we want to support the causes that move them forward. Uber’s Project Jumpstart supports local initiatives that are closest to our Connecticut partners’ hearts and empowers them to spark change in their community.

On August 24, we invited driver-partners and their friends and family to our Stamford Greenlight Hub for a presentation honoring the Project Jumpstart sponsorship winners from Connecticut: Apostle Immigrant Services and Danbury Elks. Learn more about the winners and the drivers who nominated them.

Apostle Immigrant Services

Driver-partner Misty submitted an application to support Apostle Immigrant Services, an organization that helps immigrants in the greater New Haven area attain their goals. Those goals include: achieving US citizenship, gaining work authorization, uniting with family members, becoming legal residents, and furthering their education.

In Misty’s application for funding, she expressed, “In a time when there is so much division throughout our country, I love Apostle Immigrant Services because of their dedication to keeping and bringing families together! They are amazing!”

The $7,000 donation from Uber will be used to help cover the legal and application fees associated with the services they provide, including applications for permanent residence, petitions for family members, and employment authorization.

Driver-partner Michael submitted an application to support Danbury Elks, a fraternal order that “promotes and practices Charity, Justice, and Brotherly Love; promotes the welfare and enhances the happiness of its members; quickens the spirit of American Patriotism; and cultivates good fellowship.”

In Michael’s application for sponsorship, he wrote, “This organization cares for our children in our neighborhoods, as well as the veterans. There is no better asset than our children. Our children are the future, so the better we can help them, the better off the future will be. And we can never forget our veterans who were there for us. That is why the Danbury Elks is a very important organization to me.”

Danbury Elks Lodge was built 4 years ago, but they are still in the process of raising money to finish the basement of the building. This $4,000 donation will be used toward the completion of the basement, where the Danbury Elks will host events for the lodge and the local community.
