Maryland law requires every rideshare driver in Maryland to obtain a Transportation Network Operator (TNO) license, and Uber submits applications for a license on behalf of those drivers to the Maryland Public Service Commission. You will not be eligible to do trips in Maryland without a TNO license. Having a REALID will expedite your TNO license application and grant you a provisional license that will allow you to conduct trips in Maryland while your full license application is pending. Without a REALID, you are not able to conduct trips until your TNO license has been issued and your ability to obtain a TNO license may be delayed.
According to the TSA, REAL IDs will have a star on the upper right hand corner. If you have questions about whether your license is a Real ID, please contact your local DMV.
To get on the road faster in Maryland you may obtain a REAL ID driver’s license at your local DMV, and then upload it to your driver profile. You can find more information about REAL IDs from your resident state’s website.
If you do not have a REALID, we will submit your application but the Maryland Public Service Commission requires additional documents to be submitted to confirm your lawful presence in the United States. You will receive additional information, once you’ve signed up on the Uber Driver App.
