On September 8, Morocco’s deadliest earthquake in 60 years destroyed villages and took thousands of lives. Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones, homes and communities.

Although Uber does not operate in Morocco, our ties with the country are those of the heart. Whether they were born there or have family or friends in the country, many of our passengers and drivers have a special bond with Morocco and its people. It is on their behalf that we are mobilizing our teams and our technology to contribute to the solidarity effort.

Assistance for humanitarian purposes

We have pledged a donation of €250,000 to help the people of Morocco affected by this tragedy.

Uber for Morocco

To also give passengers the opportunity to further support , we have launched the ride option “Uber for Morocco”. The Uber for Morocco rides are priced similarly to UberX rides, but with an additional €1 surcharge, which Uber will transfer to the Red Cross to support humanitarian relief efforts in Morocco. This initiative is similar to the “Uber Earthquake” and “Uber for Ukraine” products launched in the past.
