Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) members can use their subsidy to save on accessible, affordable and convenient rides through the Uber app or phone line.
How to use your MPTP subsidy with Uber
To use your MPTP subsidy for Uber trips, link your MPTP membership to your existing Uber account. Once linked, your 50% subsidy will be automatically applied to your eligible Uber trips*, up to $60 per trip, until your subsidy limit is reached.
Step 1. Create an Uber account
If you don’t already have an Uber account, sign up here or call us on 13-UBER (13 8237) to create your Uber account before filling out the following form. If you already have an Uber account, you can skip this step.
Step 2. Link your MPTP membership
Fill out the form below, to link your MPTP membership* to your Uber account.
How to request a ride via the Uber app
Open and log into the Uber app on your device
Type your destination into the “Where to?” section
Select your preferred eligible ride option.
Note: If you have successfully linked your MPTP membership and have sufficient balance remaining, the original fare will be shown with a strike through, and you’ll see the 50% subsidised fare.
Tap “confirm” and then confirm your pick up location.
Track the trip in the app
Request a ride with 13-UBER (13 82 37)
If you’d rather request a ride over the phone, you can now do so without needing the app. Call 13-UBER (13 82 37) to book a trip on demand, or pre-book up to 90 days in advance.

- How do I apply for the MPTP?
Down Small To apply for the MPTP, you will need to follow the steps on the ST Vic's website. You may need to provide medical documentation to support your application. Refer to the site for more information.
- Can I use my MPTP card with Uber?
Down Small Yes. You can use your MPTP card with Uber in Victoria. You need to link your MPTP card to your Uber account via filling out the form.
- How do I link my MPTP card to my Uber account?
Down Small If you have an existing Uber account, you can link your MPTP card to your Uber account via filling out the form. Once verified, you’ll receive an email confirmation from Uber confirming you can now use your MPTP subsidy on Uber trips and your MPTP subsidy will automatically be applied to eligible trips.
If you don’t have an Uber account, you can create a rider account in the Uber App or via the website here and follow the prompts.
Alternatively, you can call 13-UBER (13 82 37) to speak to one of our friendly team members who will help you set up your account and request trips – no app needed! A booking fee of $3 will apply.
- I submitted the wrong information or need to update my MPTP membership details, can I resubmit the form?
Down Small If you would like to resubmit the form, please visit help.uber.com or use the ‘Help Centre’ in the app and specify the changes you would like to make. A support agent will assist with resetting your entry so that you can resubmit the form.
- My MPTP membership expired and I have a new MPTP card, what should I do?
Down Small Please visit help.uber.com or use the ‘Help Centre’ in the app and inform our support team that you would like to change the MPTP membership number that you have on file. A support agent will assist with removing your current MPTP number so that you can resubmit the form with your updated information.
- My MPTP membership card is linked to a different Uber rider account, what should I do?
Down Small Please visit help.uber.com or use the ‘Help Centre’ in the app and inform our support team that you would like to change the Uber rider account that your MPTP membership number is associated with. A support agent will assist with transferring your MPTP details over to your preferred Uber rider account.
- Will I be notified when I have successfully linked my MPTP card to my Uber account?
Down Small Yes! Once verified, you’ll receive an email confirmation from Uber confirming that you can now use your MPTP subsidy on Uber trips. Your MPTP subsidy will automatically be applied to eligible trips.
- How does the MPTP discount apply on Uber?
Down Small Once you have linked your MPTP card to your Uber account successfully, the 50% discount will be automatically applied to the total fare of eligible trips within Victoria (up to $60 per trip), provided your MPTP membership is active and has sufficient remaining subsidy funds.
You will see a strikethrough of the full price trip fare showing that you’re receiving 50% off your trip before you accept the trip, so there are no surprises. The remaining 50% will be charged to your nominated bank card. All payments are facilitated directly via the Uber app, so you will not need to provide any direct payment to the driver partner.
- What types of trips are eligible for the MPTP subsidy on Uber?
Down Small MPTP subsidies can only be applied towards eligible trips on UberX, Assist, UberXL, Comfort, Premier, Uber Pet, and Uber Green. The subsidy covers 50% of the fare for eligible trips taken within Victoria, up to a maximum of $60 per trip.
- Are there any limitations on using MPTP with Uber?
Down Small Yes. The MPTP subsidy can only be applied to trips taken within Victoria and only where the MPTP member has remaining funds within their annual limits.
- Can I choose to use my subsidy on some trips, but not others?
Down Small No. Once your MPTP membership is linked to your Uber account, any eligible trips taken on that account will automatically have the 50% subsidy applied, up to a value of $60 per trip, and within your annual limits.
- Can I unlink my MPTP membership from my Uber account?
Down Small If you wish to unlink your account, please visit help.uber.com or use the ‘Help Centre’ in the app and inform our support team.
- Can friends or family members use my account and subsidy?
Down Small In accordance with ST Vic Terms and Conditions, the MPTP member must be traveling in the vehicle to receive the subsidy for that trip. MPTP membership may be cancelled if a member does not comply with the terms and conditions outlined on ST Vic's website.

- How do I check my MPTP balance?
Down Small In order to check your MPTP balance, please contact ST Vic on 1800 638 802, or email mptp@safetransport.vic.gov.au.
- Are there any additional fees when using the MPTP on Uber?
Down Small No. There are no additional fees for using the MPTP subsidy on Uber. The subsidy applies directly to your total trip fare, reducing the amount you need to pay out-of-pocket.
- Can I book an Uber in advance using my MPTP card?
Down Small Yes. You can reserve an Uber in advance through the app or by booking via 13-UBER (13 82 37). Your MPTP discount will be applied.
