Uber today announces the appointment of Angus Keene as the new Head of Advertising for Australia and New Zealand. Based in Sydney, Keene will lead the next phase of growth and innovation for Uber’s rapidly expanding advertising business in the region.

Keene brings nearly two decades of industry experience to the role, with a track record of building, leading and transforming digital platforms across Asia Pacific, and having held senior leadership roles at Fairfax Media, Twitter, and most recently X.

As Head of Uber Advertising in ANZ, Keene will report directly to Michael Levine, Head of Advertising in APAC, and take the reins of an award winning ANZ sales team.

Michael Levine, APAC Head of Advertising said: “Australia and New Zealand are foundational markets for Uber Advertising in APAC and globally, and we need a leader with a proven track record of scaling platform innovations and driving global brand partnerships to take the business forward. Angus is highly respected in the media landscape, his deep platform experience, industry leadership, and passion for mentoring talent make him the ideal leader to build on our momentum. I’m excited to have him join our APAC leadership team.”

On his appointment, Keene said: “What excites me about the Uber Advertising business is their genuine focus on creativity and innovation. Uber’s platform gives brands the opportunity to reach people in incredibly creative and impactful ways that allow them to measure back to real business impact.”

Keene added that his vision for the team going forward is “to take commerce and retail media from the digital space into real life. Whether connecting with a consumer during a ride or engaging them during a key delivery moment, the synergy across Uber’s mobility and delivery platforms offers an authentic connection to real-world moments that is intrinsically unique to Uber.”

Keene will be leading a team of 50+ in the region. Australia and New Zealand were one of the first few markets Uber Advertising had expanded to outside of the US in 2022. It’ll continue to expand in the region partnering with major brands across QSR, retail, FMCG and non-endemic sectors. Through solutions like Journey Ads and Post-checkout Ads, the platform provides brands and advertisers with high-intent engagement at scale.
